The Fairy prion or tītī in Maori is for me one of the most beautiful birds of the open ocean. Built so delicately they can suffer heavy casualties in heavy storms out at sea but as a species are very successful. Fairy prions are colonial breeders, nesting in short burrows or rock crevices, mainly on small islands and number around 4 million.
